Bras for a Cause, in international initiative, is raising awareness about breast health and helping breast cancer survivors in the most creative of campaigns. Aiming to do so, one fashionable bra or t-shirt at a time, the thinking behind Bras for a Cause is based on the fact that for many breast cancer survivors, wearing the right bra and prostheses improves both the physical and emotional healing process, especially in the case of breast cancer survivors who have had surgeries which cause a physical alteration in their appearance.
In the Middle East, finding the appropriate bra for breast cancer survivors isn’t always easy nor affordable, as the Middle Eastern market is extremely limited for the growing number of survivors who can’t find what they need locally. Standing out as the first bra design campaign in the Middle East, Bras for a Cause Middle East bridges the gap between Middle Eastern fashion designers and breast cancer survivors. Launching the collection of award winning bras and t-shirts in Beirut on the 29th of September, the next edition of Bras for Cause Middle East will take place in Dubai.
Starting out as a design content earlier this year, the final fashion show that announced the winning collections was truly an unforgettable showcase of talent. The Beirut event, which took place in the swanky downtown Beirut Souks showcased beautiful pieces by more than 25 designers - including Joe Challita, Sarah's Bag, Milia M, Krikor Jabotian, Nadine Mezher, Poca & Poca, Catherine Deane, Mia Jaafari, Noon by Noor, Domakaya, Maison Rana, Sartori Sartori, Tasche, Nadine Zeni, J Walking in Style, Alison & Marie, Sev Sev by Sevan Kouyoumjian, Tashkeil, RK Design, Margherita, Racha Al Abbas, Razan Alazzouni, Concepts by Dima, Shrekahnth, Sabry Bijoux, Customnation, Tamara Al Gabbani, and more.
All proceeds raised from the event will go directly towards funding research and reducing the cost of mammography and other recovery needs for breast cancer survivors. The following organizations in the Middle East were amongst the list of recipients of all the proceeds:
