PIZZETTA Where gluttony is no sin

| As we speak you are probably sitting at home or in
some small café reading this and thinking “what am I going to eat?” Well let me
turn a light on and ring your bell, setting off your Pavlovian Conditioning.
Buckle up and get ready to be hypnotized: at the count of three, 1, 2, 3: You
now begin to salivate, your stomach grumbles, and a small bead of sweat runs
down your brow, now put the salt and pepper shakers down and keep reading.
Across the road from Sief Palace is a little
restaurant named Pizzetta. A frosty grey façade with a logo that is as smooth
as the road you drove in on. With a name like Pizzetta you automatically think
pizza, duh. But get ready for a slight change and an eye opening experience. I
walked in and was greeted with smiling faces and there I sat, my table was
ready. The inside utters simplicity with a tint of chic, a spice of rustic, and
a dash of old school. Clean and comfortable, I felt like I needed to take my
shoes off not to offend because I was in an upper class Japanese restaurant,
but where are the chop-sticks? because I was a bit fooled. When I got the menu
I perused over some of the courses and wouldn’t you know that a lot of these
are my favorite dishes (with a flair). All oven cooked and even the pizzas are
prepared on a grill (interestingly original). I saw dishes like:
Oven baked Tortellini stuffed with Spinach and cheese
topped with a mushroom cream sauce (YES!).
Penne Arabiatta (my favorite), Stuffed Veal Ravioli
(ummm? Yah, I’ll have that), Philly cheese steak pizza (HUH? I almost feel at
home), Pappardelle with edamame and wasabi cream (my interests are piqued), and
who could go wrong with the classical margherita or Pepperoni Pepperoni
Pepperoni pizza? Who could go wrong? Ummm? Not me!
As soft, funky music played in the air, the smell of
food from the kitchen grasped me like a bully on the playground. Antsy? Yes. I
was hungry, but that feeling was soon to subside with pizza, penne, bruschetta,
and a cornucopia of other dishes all sizzling hot form the oven. No one will
ever complain about their food being cold. Quick service right to my table.
Just what I like. But don’t worry, you won’t be rushed! Be cool, talk with
friends and enjoy the flair of the fanatical but simple dishes in front of you.
I kept thinking should I have ordered the Paparedelle with Edemame and wasabi
cream? Have I made a mistake? Not really because I enjoyed every dish. Grandma
will be pleased, the kids will be excited, and you will be enamored. I’m going
back for seconds!
Readers note: Almost forgot and didn’t want to
disappoint, after your meal ask for desert. You will be pleasantly surprised.
